NICKNAMES OF BREST OBLAST RESIDENTS DETERMINED BY PECULIARITIES

Summary. As a rule, majority of group nicknames determined by peculiarities of language spoken by users of a given dialect are given to residents of peripheral areas. The paper provides an analy-sis of nicknames given to residents of the Brest Oblast and of their origin. For majority of both indige-nous and non-indigenous residents of the Brest Oblast, languages spoken by residents of southern and south-western areas of the region constitute Ukrainian dialects.

Summary. The article focuses on the scientific researches of the Hungarian Slavist Emil Baleczky in the field of Ukrainian dialects in Hungary. The author of the article has emphasized that the linguist in the early 50s of the twentieth century had conducted a thorough study of a single Ukrainian dialect in the of village Komlóska.

FEATURES OF SYNTACTIC PROCESSING OF UKRAINIAN JOURNALS
ON THE TERRITORIES OF MODERN POLAND

Summary. In the article general results of researching of syntactic features (at clause) of journal On the Bug and Narva (20042012) were given. It was stated: 1) syntax of publicistic and information genres of journals update those syntactic constructions, which describe the language of Ukrainian at the beginning of 21th century; 2) structure of several syntactic constructions saves archaic of the Ukrainian language, that, according to the author, is so because of the influence of the Poland lan-guage, where such constructions are standard; 3) there are grammatical polonizms in the Ukrainian syntax, which appear in the organization of clause (often with clauses and ratio relationships) and in the connecting and comparative constructions.

Streszczenie. W artykule omówiono specyfikę nominacji poszczególnych komponentów tworzšcych obrzędy. Podano przykłady atrybutów obrzędowych, wykonawców czynnoci, czynnoci obrzędo-wych, jednostek temporalnych i przestrzennych. Scharakteryzowan o funkcjonowanie zarówno leksemów odnoszšcych się wyłšcznie do sfery obrzędowej, jak też leksemów o charakterze ogól-nym, które nabierajš cech rytualnoci w okrelonej sytuacji obrzędowej, tj. sš reglamentowane pod względem czasu i miejsca.

Summary. The article discusses the specifics of the nomination of the individual components mak-ing up rituals. Are examples of attributes ritual performers operations, ceremonial activities, temporal and spatial units. Characterized the functioning of lexemes relating solely to the realm of ritual, as well as lexemes of a general nature, which take characteristics ritual in a given situation, they are regulated in terms of time and space.

Summary. This article deals with an analysis of the specific adverbial vocabulary which can be detected in Ukrainian dialects of North Podlasia. A commentary has been provided regarding distinc-tive Slavic archaisms which have been identified within this thematic group, and it is demonstrated that a significant number of Podlasian adverbs are also found in other West Polish dialects. Some lexical items have parallels in relatively remote Ukrainian dialects. Podlachian localisms are defined.

VOCABULARY OF UKRAINIAN PODLASIAN DIALECT

Summary. Lexical peculiarities of Podlasian dialect in Justine Korolkos poetry are analyzed. Podlasian lexemes used by writer are systematized and commented in terms of their origin. The researcher reveals significant group of borrowings, mostly from Polish and Russian languages. The specificity of use of the Podlasian patois elements by the author is indicated. J. Korolko not only attempted to use certain dialecticism or imitation of dialect speech. Her works are written in Pod-lasian dialect, which essentially serves as a literary language. The texts fully represent the North Podlasian Ukrainian dialects and can be successfully used as a material for dialectological studies.

Streszczenie. W artykule podjęto próbę okrelenia struktury etnicznej starostwa hrubieszowskiego w XVII wieku w oparciu o analizę imiennictwa osobowego wyekscerpowanego z rękopimiennych materiałów archiwalnych. Analizie poddano 1884 jednostki antroponimiczne reprezentujšce 46 imion kobiecych oraz 158 imion męskich, użytych w badanych dokumentach do identyfikacji osób repre-zentujšcych trzy narodowoci zamieszkujšce teren starostwa hrubieszowskiego. Wnioski wypływa-jšce z przeprowadzonej analizy materiału antroponimicznego potwierdzajš badania historyków.

Summary. The article attempts to identify the ethnic structure of the former Hrubieszow administra-tive district in the seventeenth century, which on the historical Polish-Ruthenian ethno-linguistic borderland, based on the analysis of personal names taken from handwritten archival materials. It has been analysed 1884 anthroponym units representing the 46 female names female and 158 male names, used in the documents to identify persons representing three nationalities living on area of Hrubieszow administrative district in the XVII century.

Summary. The article reveals derivational word-building potential of adjectival essive verbs (with suffixes and the postfix) of mental state in the Ukrainian language. The filling of the substantive and verbal zone of their word-building paradigms is identified; the number of semantic positions and the set of word-building devices, expressing word-building meanings within each zone are determined, capability of certain derivates to reproduce semantic shade of meaning is substantiated.

Summary. Vasiliy Albitschuk, born in southern areas of Podlasie region, was widely known as a talented folk painter; only much later did it turn out that he had also written poems which he quietly put down in his notebooks, without boasting about it in the environment in which he lived and worked as a painter. His poems were by and large written in Ukrainian, with apparent traces of his native North-Ukrainian dialect spoken in Podlasie region, with words of Polish and less frequently of Russian origin, which is accounted for by the poets sojourn in various places and circumstanc-es.The paper presents numerous examples of his poems showing phonetic and morphological ele-ments derived from the indigenous dialect of the Podlasie region, and some words of Polish and Russian origin, in the general linguistic Ukrainian context.

THE FUNCTIONAL TYPES OF THE PROCESSING PREDICATES IN TODOS OSMACHKAS LINGUISTIC CREATIVE WORK

Summary. The functional features of the processing predicates were explored, the semantic-syntactic structure of the sentence was discovered, the differences between the formal-syntactic and semantic-syntactic aspects of the sentence were found out, semantic groups with the predicates of process were underlined, the functional features of the predicates of a process in sentences struc-tures, that has been used by Todos Osmachka, were found in this article. The construction S + Pv is a usual sentence model that has been used very often by a write. In general predicates with the seman-tic of process form the subjective semantic-syntactic dependency, that doesnt go beyond the scopes of the one noun, except the individual predicates of the process (the change of emotional condition, the process of waiting, etc.) and predicates of a process-locativity. The lexical range of the predicates of a process is directed on the specific length in the time interval.

Summary. The articles deals with the peculiarities of the transition adverbs in formal syntactic posi-tion of verbs. The transposes character of valency of the adverbialized verbal analytical syntactic derivatives is exposed. The quantitative and qualitative composition of dependent components in the semantic-syntactic structure of the sentence, which are caused by the valence potential of adverbial predicate, are defined. The degree of its necessity is detected, lexical and morphological content is outlined. The presentation of this material is constructed according to the principles of the functional-categorical grammar of Ukrainian language. The theoretical approaches are sequentially confirmed by the broad factual material, which was selected by continuous sampling of the works by poets of the Prague school.

Streszczenie. W artykule przedstawiono repertuar formantów, za pomocš których tworzone sš mi-krotoponimy zapisane w języku ukraińskim na terenie północno-wschodniej Lubelszczyzny. Ogółem zanotowano 26 formantów. Do najbardziej produktywnych należš: -owe, -iw, -yna, np. Mazuriw, Harasymiukiw, Bilawszczyna, Gierszyna, Hnatowe, piwakowe. Formanty te w analizowanych nazwach pełniš funkcję dzierżawczš i sš urabiane od nazw osobowych.

Summary. In the article there is presented repertoire of formants of which microtoponyms written in Ukrainian language on area of north-east Lublin Region are created.In total 26 formants have been noticed. The most productive formants are: -owe, -iw, -yna, eg: Mazuriw, Harasymiukiw, Bi-lawszczyna, Gierszyna, Hnatowe, piwakowe. Above formants have a possessive function in the analyzed names and are created of topical names.

Summary. In the article the author has analyzed the structure and the functional-semantic loading of the comparative constructions used in the novel Zori svit zapovidaiut`
by Halyna Zhurba. By the form of expression of the object part the author has distinguished several types of comparisons (similes), among asyndetic comparative constructions the author has analyzed structures, the object part of which is expressed by a noun in the form of instrumental case. The author has elucidated the ways of renewing nationwide comparisons: lexical-semantic content of the components of compara-tive constructions, their unusual compatibility. The peculiar features of such comparisons were de-fined in the article.

Streszczenie. W tekcie poddano analizie wyekscerpowane z dotychczas wydanych tomów leksy-kalnych Ogólnosłowiańskiego atlasu językowego wyrazy i formy wyrazowe, charakterystyczne dla języka ukraińskiego, które występujš na mapach OLA na całym terytorium Ukrainy lub przynajm-niej na znacznej jego częci, nieraz w rozproszeniu, i przeciwstawiajš się pozostałym gwarom sło-wiańskim. Dokładne przejrzenie dotychczas opublikowanych 486 map leksykalnych OLA pokazuje, że takich wyrazów i ich form, właciwych jedynie gwarom ukraińskim, jest stosunkowo niewiele. Grupujš się przede wszystkim na południowo-zachodniej Ukrainie, a zwłaszcza na Zakarpaciu. Na południu sš to często pożyczki rumuńskie i węgierskie.

Summary. In the text, words and word forms characteristic to the Ukrainian language, excerpted from the yet published lexical volumes of the General Slavic Linguistic Atlas, were analyzed. Those words and word forms appear in the OLA maps, in the entire territory of Ukraine or, at least, con-siderable part of it. Sometimes they are dispersed and they oppose other Slavic dialects. The exact browsing of the 486 yet published lexical OLA maps shows that such words and their forms, pecu-liar solely to the Ukrainian dialects, are not numerous. They group mainly on the South-West Ukraine, especially on Transcarpathian region. In the south of Ukraine, such words and word forms are frequently the Romanian and Hungarian borrowings.

VERTICAL CONTEXT OF OLEH OL'ZHICH'S ARTWORKS: SEMANTIC AND FUNCTIONAL INTERPRETATION

Summary. The vertical context inside semantic structure in poetries of Oleh Ol'zhich, well known Ukrainian writer, prominent representative of Prague school, was analyzed, the sources of vertical contexts forming in masters artworks were explored, the basic semantic groups (political, reli-gious, cultural, artistic, educational, toponymical etc.), that represent the mentioned text category in artists works were studied, the role of words with national semantic as a components of the catego-ry of Ukrainian background information, allusions, symbols, which are correlated with a world culture, as units of vertical context in poem's semantic structure and in the process of forming of the individual author's linguistic picture of the world was determined in the article.

SEMANTIC AND STYLISTIC PECULIARITIES OF USING SIMPLE COMPLICATED SENTENCES IN THE PROSE WORKS OF HALYNA ZHURBA- pełny artykuł (full article) - plik PDF

Summary. The article analyzes the phenomenon of homogeneity in the language of the Halyna Zhurbas story The stars entrust the world..., reveals semantic and stylistic features of using ho-mogeneous members of the sentence as a significant element for the creation of portraits, pictures of landscapes, actions and states. It is established that in the writers works the most typical are verbal homogeneous series, with the help of which the author conveys the dynamics of the narrative, adjec-tival and substantival series function actively and reproduce the attributive characteristics and subject diversity of persons, states and spatial concepts. The main functional-stylistic manifestations of the sentences with homogeneous parts are outlined, in particular it is clarified the specifics of metapho-rization and parcelation of the homogeneous parts of the sentence, detachment and location of the homogeneous series, the ways of the homogeneous elements combination as the basic means of the artistic interpretation of the Halyna Zhurbas works.

PECULIARITIES OF THE ADJECTIVE INFLECTIONS IN UKRAINES PIDLYASSYA DIALECTS - pełny artykuł (full article) - plik PDF

Summary. The article deals with the analysis of characteristic peculiarities of the adjective inflec-tions in Pidlyassya dialects. The analysis has been done on the materials of The Voices from Pid-lyassya. In the focus of attention are the factors that influence the existence of the dialectical varia-tions in the inflectional system under consideration. It has been clarified that the adjective inflection variability is determined primarily by the phonetic patterns influence consequences typical for this areal. The number of distinct morphological archaisms in the analyzed dialectical material of this areal is comparatively small. It has been emphasized that the productivity of the phonetically modified old endings is higher. The majority of the analyzed phenomena of the adjective inflection are considered as a proper Ukrainian innovation, the areal of which is mainly spread in the rest of the Northern Ukrainian dialects.
